Yesterday I was browsing in the tackle shop and picked up a packet of strike pro reaction baits - 2" worms in Chameleon Green colour. The shape looks a lot like the Slam baits and both products are made in NZ so maybe the same thing in different packets? Anyway I like the colour - alot like the Gulp Camo worm so will see how they go.
Has anyone used them yet? |

| i've used the slam version in the pumpkinseed colour, they go pretty well on bream and whiting, nothing huge on them yet though, the tackers love them |
I will not settle for a donut!!! unless it's got icing on it... |

Sounds like some one is trying to take on Gulp again. I just hope they've learnt the lessons of Slam Baits and don't fail like they did. Here's what they can do to be competitive against Gulp: 1. Make sure the lures are soft and flexible like the new formula Gulps. I always found that the Slams were way too stiff, especially with shorter lures which felt like carrots. Stiff lure = less action = less fish. 2. Have decent colours. Berkley have heaps, the Slams were really basic. Probably wouldn't make a difference in reality, but it's all about the image and trying to impress anglers in the shops. 3. Be cheaper than Gulps to start with. If they are the same price as a packet of Gulps, I'll just get Gulps. They've been good to me so far, why would I change? Especially after the disappointment of Slams.
All of this is just based on my observations and experience. By no means am I a marketing expert. Just my 2c. |

| A quick update, I gave the 2 inch worms a crack on the weekend, no bream but they slayed flathead. All up in 3 x 2 hours sessions landed about 16 flatties from 30 to 45cm. I realise that catching duskies on plastics can be done with a lot of plastics but I tried a 3 inch power minnow and got nothing then back to the worms and got more fish. |
